St Patricks Snow Ball 2010

It was with snow boots, gloves and a hat I left the house last week – I didn’t look like I was off to social extravaganza.

Our head teacher hit the nail on the head when she congratulated the PTFA on attention to detail, who would have thought that Sarah, Fleur and Letita could have arranged SNOW!

Arriving at Hartham Park the scene was set and after our welcome drinks and mingle, we were invited to the restaurant to indulge in a sumptuous meal. This was followed by dancing and singing(!) to the band, not to mention a “flutter” in the casino, where the money wore the face of our very own queen!

A fabulous time was had by all and a substantial amount was raised for our PTFA fund, keep a look out to see how the money is spent.

The Nativity performance – Bristol Old Vic

What a fantastic time we had on Friday afternoon. The children were thoroughly engaged in the whole performance.

The story was narrated by 2 sheep, the shepherds were a family from the north and King Herod made a speech which sounded very much like a Prime Minister (not the last one, but the one before him!). I was totally transfixed when Mary began to play the harmonica and of course the 3 wise men bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and a cute teddy bear for baby Jesus made us all howl with laughter. The cast were assisted by 2 of our very own staff who were great; please don’t leave us for the West End just yet Miss Smith(yr3) and Mrs Robinson.

The performance told the traditional Christmas Story, of the birth of Jesus, in such a way that you could not fail to use all your emotions. It was dramatic, moving and so very funny.

I hope that the children would love to see more visitors to our school who could entertain in this way and this makes all the hard work of chairing the PTFA and constantly asking for your help worth it.
